“Life Is A Beach”
I made this because… There’s something about the beach that just brings out a different side (maybe real?) of people. Everyone seems to relax and let go. You can feel it in the way they move, the way they laugh, or even just the way they sit in the sand and stare out at the waves. It's like all the stress melts away, and they’re just completely in the moment—whether they’re alone, with friends, or loved ones. That’s what draws me in: the simple, honest joy of people being themselves, soaking up the sunshine, feeling the sand under their feet, and letting the ocean carry them away.
Shooting these on film makes it personally even more special. There’s this warmth and texture to film photos that just matches the vibe of the beach perfectly. To me, digital feels too sharp, too precise, while film captures that laid-back, easy-going feeling so well. I love looking through the viewfinder and catching these little stories. It’s nice to capture people just being human, being happy, being free.
Creative Inspiration: Ever since I started taking photos with film, Joe Greer is the one I look up to the most. The way he captures people and moments somehow feels so raw and honest—you can feel deeply the emotions of what each of his photograph is conveying. I also recently discovered Faizal Westcott, and have been truly inspired by his work.
